I'm Falyn, a ceramicist based on the West Coast of British Columbia, where I work from my woodland studio.

What began as a creative outlet has evolved into a practice of creating objects designed to be lived with—mugs held during early mornings, vessels filled with garden blooms, and pieces that become part of everyday rituals. I make functional ceramics by hand, one at a time, each bearing the subtle marks of the process that shaped it.

My background as a nurse has profoundly influenced the way I approach clay. Through ceramics, I explore our relationship with the natural world, the grounding rhythm of making, and the quiet rituals that invite us back to ourselves. In a culture that often values speed and productivity above all else, creating with our hands and slowing our pace has never felt more meaningful. My nursing practice is not separate from my ceramics; it is the foundation of how and why I create.

I believe the objects we reach for each day can become quiet invitations to slow down, pay attention, and reconnect—with ourselves, with one another, and with the natural world.

I am also working toward offering workshops that bring people together through clay for exactly that reason: to foster presence, connection, and a sense of belonging through the shared experience of making with our hands. I look forward to sharing more about those offerings soon.
